You know there isn't a lot of room in the cab of your truck for lugging gear, so a tool truck rack will give you plenty of room to put your tools, while keeping them safe from the elements. Top mount tool boxes go in the bed of your truck, right outside the cab. You can find them in many different shapes and sizes and with many different kinds of lids (single, double or multiple compartment). The one you pick hangs on what you plan on carrying in the box. If you plan on carrying small items, you may want to go with multiple compartments. If big tools are what you need to lug around, you should go for a single large compartment.
Another choice is a side mount box, which hangs from the side of your truck bed. Although these are often slightly taller than the bed, the majority of the box sits is confined to the bed. Side mounts always open from the top, and most come with a lock that attaches the tool box to your truck so no one can walk away with it.
